Beauty from Ashes
That’s the story we crave, isn’t it? Something lovely from the ruins of whatever knocked us down.
I am a believer that God can bring beauty from ashes. So today, I decided to pray for that.
I have not had the heart for blogging or blogging lately. I can’t describe why, I have just dwelt in a slump. No real inspiration, and a good chance some would label what I’ve felt as depression, I’ve found it extremely difficult to just show up.
There are always reasons, although we don’t always know specifically what’s feuling these seasons. I could name a few, but why drag you down?
Instead, I have decided to do this April blog challenge, to give me a little oomph–a reason to show up here. Once the ball starts to roll, it’s easier to keep it moving. That first push is really hard, though.

Ultimate Blog Challenge
This first post for the Ultimate Blog Challenge (one blog post per day for the whole month of April) is my nudge. It’s me showing up, and endeavoring to put some thought into words.
Springtime Inspiration
Springtime is a great time to look for beauty from ashes. New growth is bursting out daily, so let’s look around for it!
Get outside every day, and by the end of the month, we will have observable changes.
Three new things I see today:
New Life, New Season
Springtime feels like a new chance. I feel like I’m starting over on this blog.
Let’s forget the past. Let’s press on, trusting that God will work in us and around us.
He will bring beauty from ashes for us. And I suspect it might look different than we think!
Have a wonderful day!

Beauty from Ashes…more to think on.
A few years ago, as part of our “date night”/family time, we watched this film. We enjoyed it. It is a Christian film, and shows the work of redemptive love in one home.
This film is part of the Princess Cut Trilogy, which includes the original Princess Cut movie, Hearts on Fire, and Beauty from Ashes. I like them all, but I think the original is still my favorite of the three.
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn.
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:1-3
I love this! Spring is a fantastic time to see everything come to life again. I love nature and being out in it – so much to explore and it’s always changing.
Yes, it is. Just blink and you’ll miss something!
Hi Laurie. I’m so glad you decided to join the Ultimate Blog Challenge. I’ve been where you are before and am so proud of you for taking the first step. I look forward to reading more from you and wish you much success! – Elisa
Likewise!
Look forward to getting to know you.
I was just reflecting on the whole idea of God bringing beauty from ashes because of a book I had been reading. Springtime is a perfect reminder!
Sounds like we were thinking along the same lines. I’d be curious to know what book.
Have a great day!
