Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!

Hippity hoppity!

It’s blog hoppin’ time again!

Here’s my opinion of what’s going on with the cooler weather we’ve suddenly started getting as of today!

The video would not load (off grid life) but it was a clip of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” along with fields of sunflowers. It’s a happy time of year when you can walk through the flowers! 😀

If you go to my Instagram page (link below) you’ll find many pictures of our sunflowers and behind the scenes snippets of life!

Unique sunflower
Another unique sunflower!

We are finally getting a brief pause in the rain! Had a tornado warning here last evening, but thankfully we are still here, and so is our house.

My husband has been receiving plenty of extra calls related to the downed trees from the storm. It’s good job security but does keep him running!

Hope all are safe! 🌪️ ☔️

On another note:

Upon reading one of my reader’s blog posts shared on a recent blog hop, I stumbled across the book Unwinding Anxiety: New Science Shows How to Break the Cycles of Worry and Fear to Heal Your Mind  Since she had it on a must-listen-to list, I went ahead and got it for Audible.  I’m curious if anyone else has gone through this book?

I find the science behind habits extremely interesting.  Explaining how we got into these ruts called habits is one thing—learning how to break hard cycles is even more important!

There are several (ahem!) areas in my life where I’d like to make fresh starts in!  I have noticed since approaching the change, that I don’t handle stress well at all!  Anxiety has become very real as my body has gotten a little run down. I’m trying to prioritize sleep, exercise, and my thought life, and I’m very interested to learn how to do this in a more efficient way!  That’s why I got this book!

Interestingly…

It’s crazy how so many things in life are related.  I just visited my doctor and spoke with him for awhile about hormones, anxiety, and life.  He told me some things I question, like the statement that hormones in women don’t affect mood. In my mind, I was thinking, “How funny that you as a man are telling me this!”

He claimed, rightly or wrongly, I don’t know which, that mood fluctuations in women (even cyclical) are due to our buckets being too full, then our periods come and it causes the bucket to spill over so we can’t handle it.  Lol. LOL! 😂 To be his wife!

Give me a break!  And he’s an OBGYN.  🤦‍♀️

I will agree that he probably has a point about needing to develop coping mechanisms.  Point taken.  That’s why I just got that book.

This recent post explains a bit about my life lately!

We discussed sleep, mood, and everything related to that (in a 15-minute nutshell).  I can definitely agree that working on good sleep is probably a huge factor in mood, inspiration, coping, and basically everything else in life.  I have been diligently working on my sleep!  And I’ve been getting some better nights!  Five or six nights in a row I’ve slept well, then last night—nope!

Progress, People!

Over a year ago, I picked up the book called The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time at a second-hand store.  I needed it then, I need it now.  So, it’s time to actually open it up and start in!  I have not done well at reading actual books on paper.  I’m going to keep it, but I’ve downloaded the Audible edition too, because I know I’ll be more likely to get through the material that way.  I believe the link if you click the text takes you to the Audible version!

Hormones and Emotional Intelligence  is a talk by Dr Neil Nedley that I keep listening to.  He comes at health from a natural approach, and sorry, Doctor of Mine, his research doesn’t jive with yours.  He gives more solutions, and that’s why even though my doctor gave me no real tangible direction, I’m ok.  I’m going with some of Dr Nedley’s research recommendations, and I’ll work on my health myself.  At the end of the day, that’s what we all have to do anyway—take charge of our own health!

Cool

I’m loving these cooler days and nights!  His morning I almost got tricked into believing I’d woken up in autumn!  That works for me!  👏

Enjoy the season!

I’m going to go empty something out of my bucket!
