☀️Welcome to the Sunday Sunshine Blog Hop!☀️

Happy Sunday!

We are in the midst of a breezy spell!

My husband and I drove my dad up to Viking Mountain today, and enjoyed the view. We barely got out of the car, though, because the wind and the cold was rather miserable. The view, however, did not disappoint.

We could see for miles, and the view was clear. The clouds made shadows on the hills, but they changed rapidly. It was a nice drive, and we enjoyed a quiet ride home to Mom and Dad’s afterwards.

My cousin and her son came to visit today, and it was nice to catch up a little with them in the afternoon.

Family dynamics are interesting. Nobody’s perfect, and before long, you get to experience the nuances of each person’s personality. The problem comes when you realize that nobody else does things just exactly like you do. In a marriage and in a family, this can lead to misunderstandings. But, even though it is difficult to do, talking through those times is what brings understanding. If we sweep it under the rug, it’s still there to deal with later on. Better to deal with things, but it can be a challenge in real life. Prayer can change attitudes, and often it’s ours that needs the biggest adjustments, not theirs!

Growing up, we owned the book, entitled, Lord Give Me Patience, But Hurry Up About It. I remember it contained some humorous ways to look at the way that God brings trials to teach us His ways. But the title is what always stuck with me.

We want patience, and we want it right now.

Unfortunately, it’s the trials that bring the patience. And, as James instructs, Let patience have her perfect work.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James 1:4

With that in mind, let’s pray for patience, and be ready for the things, situations, and people God will allow to cross our paths that will make that happen. Then hold on for the ride!

Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

  2. Those views are absolutely breathtaking, Laurie! Thank you for sharing them! On the topic of patience, I remember my mother always sang the Patience song to us. It goes, “Have patience, have patience. Don’t be in such a hurry. When you get impatient, you only start to worry. Remember, remember, that God is patient, too. And think of all the times when others have to wait for you!” Now I want to try to find that book you mentioned!
